Artist Bio

Steve Walsh
Bass – Vocals

Steve was born in Muhlenberg county Ky to a musical family and loved being around music. He started playing piano at  6 years old, took up the trumpet in the 4th grade and trombone in Jr. high.  Steve always wanted to play guitar. His uncle who had learned to play back in the 40’s with Merle Travis turned out to be a good teacher.

Steve started playing in local bands in 1966 most notably the Louisville Tymes, The Caravans, Mercy Blues (later to be Steve Walsh and Mercy).  He’s worked with Jerry Lee Lewis, Chubby Checker, Sami Smith, Vic Dana, Ronnie Dove and Ray Peterson to name a few. He’s recorded a movie sound track for twentieth Century Fox and his own album, One to one. Steve retired from the music business about 12 years ago but later came out of retirement to play with Replay.

Bill Hackett

He played all styles of music in noted organizations: Classical- New Jersey Junior Symphony Orchestra, Dixieland- with Your Father’s Mustache Band members, Concert Bands- New Jersey (Regional) State, NJ Wind Ensemble, and Jazz dance bands. He also appeared in concert with the touring group Up With People.
He studied with noted session sax man Neal Bonsanti (Barbra Streisand/Barry Gibb album and others). His rock career started as a sax player with the popular Soul/R&B band, the Echelon’s, who performed at clubs and college concert venues. He played with other rock bands performing in the NY/NJ metropolitan area and with notable artists Mel Anderson (Twisted Sister), Al Anderson (Bob Marley).
Bill took a 30+ year hiatus from music and returned to the music scene playing keyboards with local blues musicians in Louisville before forming Replay.

Jim Flautt
Drums – Vocals

Jim’s Professional career began in the late 1960s playing and recording with several rock/soul/jazz/blues acts in and around Louisville, Kentucky.  Highlighted by appearances with and membership in bands such as backing Ray Charles at the Copacabana in 1970, stints with the likes of Sunstorm, Sick Man of Europe (later became Cheap Trick), Phoenix, and Hot Property (later became Starz).
In 1974 Jim returned to Louisville and joined Traveller, appearing at Sound Stage, City Lights, and what became Stevie Rays’ Blues Club.  Jim later joined  Flyers, a very commercially successful club band.  Jim  helped formed Johnny Too Bad in 1982, the cutting edge indi-reggae quartet from Louisville.  Jim’s ability to easily interface with big name band members, enabled him to play gigs with people as diverse as the Oak Ridge Boys and the Blues Brothers Band.

Brian Arkels
Guitars – Vocals

Brian  joined his first band and began playing professionally at the age of 13.  Having played a wide variety of musical styles with various bands in different parts of the country, Brian has opened for such acts as Jeanne Pruitt, Head East and Foghat.
Brian came to the Louisville area in 1992 after playing with various groups in LA, Little Rock and Atlanta.   After taking several years off pursuing other interests, Brian got back into the swing of things on 2003 when he joined Louisville’s Decades band.
Joining Replay in July of 2010, Brian is the band’s newest member.  Brian’s edgy musical style folds seamlessly into Replay’s rock n’ roll repertoire.  Watch him closely Folks… His fingers never leave his hands!
