JD Shelburne is southern rock mixed with mainstream country and authentic singer-songwriter musicianship at its finest. Counting Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, and Garth Brooks among his major influences, this Taylorsville, Kentucky native’s emotionally-driven play list is laden with ‘songs from the heart, about the heart, vulnerable and honest’. After a childhood in Taylorsville, Kentucky listening to country music non stop, he developed interest in guitar after the death of his dearest grandmother. Performing shows in his college town of Lexington and nearby Louisville, Kentucky, Shelburne arrived in Nashville, Tennessee a year ago as an entertaining hot country artist. He soon signed a production deal with Vice Productions and later teamed with noted producer Jeffrey Vice for his national debut, which runs the gamut from the know-it-all attitude ballad “Long Enough to Know” to the up-tempo rocker “The Real Thing”.
JD has had enough recognition to land him in Country weekly Magazine in March 2009, global airplay on the legendary 650 WSM Nashville Station, numerous television appearances, countless gigs that include Freedom Hall, The Wildhorse Saloon, The Bluebird Café, Churchill Downs, Waterfront Park, and Louisville Slugger Field to name a few. JD Shelburne has also shared the stage with many national country acts. He has opened for Kellie Pickler, The Kentucky Headhunters, Steve Wariner, Joey & Rory, Adam Gregory, Daryl Worley, David Frizzell, Joe Nichols (2007, 2009, 2009), John Michael Montgomery, Shannon Lawson, Halfway to Hazard, Juice Newton, Richard Leigh (Grammy Award Winning Songwriter) and James Dean Hicks (Nashville Writer) to name a few.
His Nashville debut record was just released in July 2009 and is gaining popularity nationwide. This record is living proof the JD Shelburne is in route to country music stardom.
